Dr. Shirley Reid is an experienced and dedicated dentist committed to her patients, practice, community and dental health education. She appreciates and takes great pride in making a difference in one’s life by improving his or her smile. She feels her greatest reward of improving someone’s smile and dental health is knowing the individual can smile, communicate and eat with comfort and confidence for a lifetime. Dr. Reid considers it an honor to be your dentist.

Dr. Reid was born in Texas and is a proud graduate of R.L. Paschal High School in Fort Worth. She graduated in 1974 from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and is a staunch Razorback fan and supporter. Dr. Reid earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Texas at Houston in 1978; however, her loyalty to the Razorbacks over the Longhorns has remained strong since her first year at University of Arkansas. After several years of practicing dentistry in Fort Smith and Galveston, she relocated to Little Rock and bought Dr. Trimble’s practice in 1983 and has practiced in Hillcrest ever since. Dr. Reid is committed to being on the cutting edge of the latest dental treatment, resources and technology. She dedicates herself to learning the newest developments in her field with continuing education courses at local, divisional and national conferences and conventions. In 2003, she completed the requirements to become a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Reid currently serves as the Membership Chair of the Arkansas Academy of General Dentistry and has attended the National AGD meetings in Chicago and Nashville. She has attended the L.D. Pankey Institute, as well as the ADA national meetings in Portland, Seattle, and San Francisco. Dr. Reid supports her staff in attending continuing education opportunities to assure the whole office is current in the best dental practices.

Dr. Reid is the proud mother of three daughters and one son-in-law who all follow in her footsteps of pursuing higher education in the field of medical health and research. She is a member of Pulaski Heights United Methodist church, the Hillcrest Residence Association and the Hillcrest Merchant Association. She participates in the annual Hillcrest Fall Festival with a dental health education booth and goody-bags of toothbrushes, toothpaste and floss. Additionally, Dr. Reid participated in the rewarding experience of the first year of Arkansas Mission of Mercy, treating people unable to afford dental treatment. Since 2006, she has helped organize the “Women in Dentistry” team for the Komen Race for the Cure. The entire office staff enjoys participating in the race to support the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Watch for information to support or participate in the race in October.

When she is not working at the office, she enjoys traveling to visit her three grown daughters, sharing time with her retired parents who reside at Woodland Heights, gardening, golfing, camping, and water skiing at Lake Ouachita. She is thrilled to be called "Oma" by her grandson, Carew. A new challenge for Dr. Reid is becoming more “green” in work and at home.
